Sierra Barrow, the founder of the Barrow Center.

Sierra Barrow, RN, CCM, Founder and Administrator, is a Martinsville-Henry County native. 2004 alumni of Magna Vista High School and 2011 graduate of Patrick and Henry Community College Nursing Program. She is a registered nurse and mom to 3 young children. She has specialized in emergency medicine, labor and delivery and care management. In 2016, she started her nurse care management career and was embedded in a pediatric palliative care clinic in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was then, she knew she wanted to help the most underserved population— special needs children. In 2019, she obtained her certified case manager (CCM) certification which shows excellence, skill, competence, and knowledge in the field of case management. Witnessing the life experiences of a special needs mother, her sister-in- law, whose daughter has cerebral palsy and is fully dependent on care, she decided to open a center specifically to serve special needs children. Sierra’s hobbies include cooking, trying new foods, traveling, horseback riding, gardening, boating, but mostly spending quality time with friends and family. Sierra is an advocate for diversity, equality, adversity and inclusion.

“As an aunt to a young lady with special needs, I have witnessed the difficulties parents face obtaining resources and services needed for their children. Especially childcare for children with special needs. Because of this , many families have to pack up their entire lives and move to bigger urban areas to be closer to services.”

The Barrow Center wants to support YOU. We are here to not only provide childcare but to help navigate needed services with you. It’s important to us that as a parent and caregiver of a special needs child, you have time for mental clarity! Being a caregiver is rewarding but also comes with many challenges.

The Barrow Center is the right place for your child! We are Martinsville and Henry County’s first therapeutic child care center that specifically serves special needs and medically fragile children. Our services include childcare, which will help reduce lost wages as parents can return to work. Respite care to prevent caregiver burnout , and contracting with local therapy agencies to provide in house therapy sessions (OT,ST, PT.)

Our Mission is to make a difference in our clients, community, and of our staff members lives by inspiring happiness and ensuring equality, inclusion and dignity are provided with the utmost respect.
